xtnbreg sucks! My econometric pet peeve: papers that diss poisson models in favor of negative binomial specifications. According to the man, QML Poisson should be our workhorse in many microeconometric estimation problems, even if the (positive) dependent variable takes on non-integer values (see this paper and also this one for an explanation). Inspired by Tim Simcoe's initial effort, xtqmlp implements QML standard errors for the "fixed effects Poisson model" of Hausman, Hall, and Griliches (1984) in Stata.
